The Rain came down ....
A damp ending to what was a fantastic weekend of Music.
The weather however should not have been a factor as we had hired a huge marquee complete with Stage, Light Rig and PA system.
A solution designed to cope with all kinds of weather contingencies.
“SO WHAT WENT WRONG?”
Our Team arrived Thursday to erect the marquee and we were informed at noon (on build day!!) by the owner and the manager of the venue that they now didn’t want it erected on the rear grass garden, (DESPITE this being previously agreed and marked out in June and confirmed in early July)
Leaving us with a carefully organised Event Plan in RUINS.
As well as a MARQUEE and MAIN STAGE that had to be taken back away by the subcontractors!!!
All at further cost to us and extra effort by our crew.
ALL was now to go inside onto the second stage in the ballroom, Causing Absolute Chaos!!
Too many bands to try to cram onto one small stage.
Simply, not enough time for each to load in, sound check, perform and then load out.
What should have happened was that the alternate stage would be ready to take over as the other stage finished,
allowing the customers to move from one performance to another seamlessly whilst our technical teams prepared the next performers.
Some Bands had to play their sessions in a smaller bar!!!
On our take down and get out on Sunday afternoon...
£500 of agreed monies from the venue manager WAS WITHELD!!
We had to call the Police to ensure it could be retrieved.
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE THIS DECISION???
They “didn’t take as much money as they thought they would” -
Their naive & foolish decision to do away with a marquee and bar and stage didn’t help!!!
In effect they scrapped the main stage area before it even started.
As this was merely a contribution towards the full costs of MANY MANY Acts, The Extra Production Costs of the outdoor stage,
The Promotion, Advertising & Extra hours of organisation.
THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO CAME AND SUPPORTED US
We deeply appreciate all your support for the festival.
We feel sorry that the VENUE MANAGEMENT prevented the full event to go ahead as planned.
The loss of the marquee and mainstage made it impossible for us to claw back most of our costs.
We would like to thank the Castle Hotel Staff who worked hard throughout.
